Best Diamond Painting Kits for Adults: Picks by Size and Style

Best Diamond Painting Kits for Adults 2026

This guide sorts the full-drill diamond painting kits we sell by what an adult crafter is usually shopping for: a first kit, a mid-size scene to fill a few weeks of evenings, a statement canvas for a big wall, a square-drill project, or something for the season. Every size, color count and price below comes from the current product pages.

If you have never placed a drill before, our roundup of the best kits for beginners covers the very first steps in more detail. If you want to know what separates a premium kit from an ordinary one, read the premium full-drill kit guide. This page is the shopping list for adults who already know they want to paint and are deciding what to paint next.

Quick answer: The best diamond painting kits for adults are full-drill kits with DMC-coded drills, a readable symbol chart and a size you will realistically finish. Start with a 40x40cm round-drill kit ($32 here), move up to 45x45cm to 55x55cm scenes ($40 to $55), and save the 90x50cm and 60x80cm canvases ($80 to $85) for when you want a statement piece.

What every kit in this guide has in common

Jeanne Argent is a small studio in Alexander, North Carolina. We sell diamond painting kits; we do not design, make or print them. What we do make in the studio are 3D-printed tools and decor, some of which appear further down. Across the kits in this guide, a few things hold:

  • Full drill. The whole canvas is covered in drills when you finish, with no printed background left showing. If you are weighing that against partial drill, see full drill vs partial drill kits.
  • DMC-coded drills. Each color is labeled with a DMC number, so you can match it exactly if a packet runs short. Single colors by DMC number are in our replacement drills collection.
  • Mostly round drills. Round drills are the more forgiving shape to place. A handful of kits use square drills, and they have their own section below.
  • Licensed artwork. The artwork is licensed through Adobe Stock or is C. Silver's AI-assisted original art, edited before it becomes a pattern. You can read how our commercially licensed art works.

Each product page lists the canvas size, and most also give the number of DMC colors in the pattern. Those two figures tell you more about how a kit will feel to work than a label like "beginner" or "advanced". A bigger canvas means more drills and more evenings. More colors in the same space means smaller patches of each color and more switching between packets.

Your first adult kit: 40x40cm and smaller

A first adult kit should be big enough to look like wall art when it is done and small enough that you finish it while you still remember why you started. Our 40x40cm round-drill kits sit right in that spot at $32 each, and they are grouped with other easy starting points in the budget and beginner kits collection.

  • Cottage Garden (40x40cm, round drill, $32): roses, gerberas and berries spilling out of a weathered watering can, worked in 23 DMC colors. Red carries most of the picture, so it suits a kitchen wall.
  • Lovebirds (40x40cm, round drill, $32 for the kit): two parrots among peonies and string lights in 23 DMC colors, mostly reds and pinks. It makes a thoughtful wedding or anniversary present.
  • Cupcake Bouquet and Ice Cream Daisies (40x40cm, round drill, $32 each): two dessert-themed designs for a kitchen or a cheerful corner.
  • Winter Reading Nook, Quiet Hours (40x30cm, round drill, $29): a lamp-lit stack of books by a snowy window in 21 DMC colors. It is the smallest adult kit here and a good project for a single winter.

Why round drill for a first kit? A round drill that sits slightly off still looks tidy next to its neighbors, while a square drill that is slightly turned shows. Our square vs round drill guide goes into the trade-off. For setup, reading the symbol chart and the basic tools in the box, start with diamond painting for beginners.

Mid-size scenes: 45x45cm to 55x55cm

Once a 40x40cm kit feels comfortable, the next step does not have to be a giant canvas. A mid-size scene gives you room for more detail, softer shading and longer runs of one color, without taking over your table for months. All of these are round-drill kits.

The butterfly and daisy floral series (45x45cm, $40 each)

Four floral kits pair gerbera daisies with butterflies, each in its own palette: Golden Hour in warm orange, gold and yellow (21 DMC colors), Seaglass in teal and blue, Purple Butterfly, and Crimson Blush in red and pink. Choosing between them is mostly a question of which room the finished piece will hang in.

Scenes with a story (45x45cm, $40 each)

Among the Lily of the Valley and Rosy Piglet, A Bucket of Sweetness suit painters who like a subject with a bit of character rather than a pure pattern.

Tall formats (40x55cm and 40x60cm)

Portrait canvases fit narrow walls, hallways and the space beside a window. The four parfait kits (40x55cm, $45 each) stack fruit and cream up the height of the glass; Orange Cream Parfait uses 22 DMC colors, and there are also pineapple, berry passionfruit and strawberry versions. Tea Time (40x60cm, $47) shows two cats holding teacups, with roses and daisies painted across their coats in 38 DMC colors. That is a wide palette for the size, so expect more color changes per row.

A darker option (55x55cm, $55)

The Winter Big Top is a gothic circus tent in black, ivory and red against a smoky winter sky. The stripes give you long clean runs, and the sky is the slower part. At 55x55cm it is the largest kit in this group and a sensible bridge toward the statement canvases.

The taller and larger mid-size kits are also grouped in our full-size kits collection.

Statement canvases: 90x50cm and 60x80cm

These are the kits you buy for a specific wall. They are long projects, the kind you work on over weeks, so pick a subject you will still enjoy looking at when it is half done. They sit in the premium large-format kits collection.

  • Peacock Blossom Branch, Celadon Vale (90x50cm, round drill, $80): a peacock on a blossom branch with its tail running across the canvas and a misty mountain view behind, in 28 DMC colors. The wide shape suits the space above a sofa or a headboard.
  • Colorful Tree of Life, Prism Grove (90x50cm, round drill, $80): swirling branches with leaves in magenta, teal, gold and violet against a pale background, also in 28 DMC colors. Busy up close, it reads as a single tree from across the room.
  • Owl, Enchanted Forest (60x80cm, square drill, $85): a white owl among lilacs and peonies, worked in 48 DMC colors with square drills that sit edge to edge. This is the one for someone who has finished several kits and wants a real project.
  • Atelier Palette Set ($84.99): a floral kit in your choice of Golden Hour, Seaglass, Purple Butterfly or Crimson Blush, with a matching tray, pen station, rulers and drill guide printed here in our studio. It is less about canvas size and more about a coordinated setup you can leave out on the table.

Large canvases reward a little planning: where the rolled canvas lives between sessions, working one section at a time, and good light. Our guide to starting a large diamond painting project walks through it.

Square drill kits

Square drills sit edge to edge, so a finished area shows no canvas between them and the surface reads as one continuous mosaic. The trade-off is that they need straighter rows and more patience. If you like that crisp finish, these are the kits to look at, all in the square drill kits collection:

  • Lakeside Cottage in Spring (40x50cm, $40): a stone cottage on a still lake with cherry blossom, a weeping willow and one white swan. The reflections in the water are where square drills show what they can do.
  • Thatched Cottage by the Pond (40x50cm, $40): another quiet countryside scene in the same format.
  • Italian Lakeside Village (40x50cm, $40): a village on the water, for anyone who prefers architecture to flowers.
  • The Owl from the section above (60x80cm, $85), if you want your square-drill project to be a statement piece too.

The three 40x50cm scenes make a sensible first square-drill kit because they are a manageable size. A ruler or drill straightener helps keep rows aligned; our 3-piece ruler and drill straightener set ($12.99) is made for exactly that. If you would rather stay with round drills, browse the round drill kits collection.

Seasonal kits: autumn, Christmas and winter

Seasonal kits are a pleasant way to pace the hobby: start one as the season begins and hang it while it still fits the calendar. Most are grouped in the holidays and seasonal collection.

Autumn

Christmas and winter

  • Six Christmas teddy bear kits (45x45cm, round drill, $40 each), all in the Christmas collection.
  • Four snowman kits (45x60cm, round drill, $52 each), including Jolly Snowman with Silver Bell, worked in 22 DMC colors with teal knitwear against frosty blues.
  • Winter Reading Nook from the first-kit section ($29), which suits the whole season rather than a single day.

For gifts, two studio-exclusive bundles pair a kit with The Tool Keeper, a padded zip case for pens, tips, wax and tweezers. The case comes empty, ready for the tools from the kit and any you add later. The Christmas Teddy Bear Kit and Red Tool Keeper bundle is $59.99 with your choice of bear, and the Snowman Kit and Slate Blue Tool Keeper bundle is $81.99 with your choice of snowman.

If you are ordering for a holiday, leave time for packing and transit. Orders are packed in our studio in 2 to 5 business days and sent by USPS, usually arriving about 5 to 8 days later. Shipping within the US is $5.95 on orders under $20, $8.95 from $20 to $99.99, and free on orders of $100 or more. More ideas sorted by recipient are in our diamond painting gift guide.

Before you order: returns

Unopened kits and unused accessories can be returned within 14 days of delivery, and we pay the return postage. Once a kit is opened, we can take it back only if the pattern is unreadable or the drills arrived spilled or damaged, so it is worth checking the canvas and the drill packets when the box arrives. Made-to-order and pre-order pieces can be returned only if they are damaged or faulty.
