Diamond Painting Kit Gift Ideas: Christmas 2026 Guide

A diamond painting kit lasts well past Christmas morning: a calm project for the quiet days after the holidays, then a finished piece to hang. The trick is matching the kit to the person. This guide sorts our in-stock kits, gift sets, tools and studio-printed pieces by who you are buying for, with prices, sizes and honest time estimates.
Quick answer: For a first-timer, give a small round-drill kit such as the Winter Reading Nook ($29) or Cottage Garden ($32). For an experienced painter, go big with the 60 x 80 cm Owl ($85) or a 90 x 50 cm panorama ($80), and for a ready-made Christmas gift, a teddy bear kit paired with a red Tool Keeper case ($59.99). For kids, a framed $12.99 mini kit; for the crafter who has everything, The Tool Keeper ($29.99) or the Drill Pen Station ($28).
How to pick a kit they will actually finish
The best diamond painting gift matches three things: the person's experience, the time they really have, and what they would happily hang on a wall. Our adult kits are full drill with DMC-coded drills, so the choice comes down to size, drill shape and subject.
- Time: our smaller kits (40 x 30 cm to 40 x 40 cm) take roughly 12 to 20 hours, the 45 cm holiday kits about 25 to 35 hours, and the large and panoramic canvases 45 to 60 hours.
- Drill shape: round drills are the forgiving choice for a newer painter. Square drills give a tight mosaic finish but show a crooked stone, so save them for experienced painters.
- Subject: pick a scene they would display, one that suits their kitchen, reading chair or December mantel.
Each standalone adult kit in this guide comes with a stylus pen, grooved tray, wax refill and tweezers, so the kit on its own is a complete gift. None of them includes a frame.
For a first-timer: small canvases that get finished
Start small and round: a 40 cm round-drill canvas takes a week or two of evenings, the early win a new painter needs. Browse more in small diamond painting kits, round-drill kits and budget and beginner kits.
- Winter Reading Nook Diamond Painting Kit, Quiet Hours ($29). At 40 x 30 cm (16 x 12 in) with 21 DMC colors, it takes roughly 12 to 15 hours, a long weekend rather than a season. A lamp-lit window with snow drifting past makes it a natural December gift for a reader.
- Cottage Garden Floral Diamond Painting Kit ($32). Roses and red gerberas spill out of a watering can on a 40 x 40 cm canvas. With 23 DMC colors, the drill areas stay large and comfortable to fill, and it takes about 15 to 20 hours. A good match for a gardener.
- Ice Cream & Daisies Diamond Painting Kit ($32). The same 40 x 40 cm size on round drills, with a wide sky-blue background that gives long, easy stretches to work while a podcast plays. Roughly 15 to 20 hours.
- Lovebirds Diamond Painting Kit ($32 for the DIY kit). Two parrots among peonies and string lights on a 40 x 40 cm canvas, about 15 to 20 hours. It is forgiving enough for a first kit and doubles as a wedding or anniversary gift for a couple to finish together.
Tuck a note in with the gift: open only a few drill packets at a time, work one color or section at a time, and take a break before the hand gets tired. Our beginner's guide to diamond painting covers the rest, and our picks of the best kits for beginners go beyond the gift list.
For the seasoned painter who wants a statement canvas
For someone with a few kits finished, size and color count are the gift. Our guide to premium full-drill kits explains what to look for, and the premium large-format collection has the full range. Painters who like a crisp mosaic finish can browse the square-drill kits.
- Owl Diamond Painting Kit, 60 x 80 cm Square Drill ($85). A white owl among lilacs and peonies, worked in 48 DMC colors, enough that the feathers keep their texture. Square drills and 45 to 60 hours make this one for an experienced painter, not a first kit. At this size, a frame is worth budgeting for.
- Peacock Blossom Branch Diamond Painting Kit, Celadon Vale ($80). A 90 x 50 cm (about 35 x 20 in) panorama made for the wide wall above a sofa or headboard, in muted teal, dusty rose and soft gold across 28 DMC colors. Plan on about 45 to 55 hours and a table that can stay set up.
- Colorful Tree of Life Diamond Painting Kit, Prism Grove ($80). The same 90 x 50 cm format in magenta, teal, gold and violet for the painter who is tired of calm palettes. Round drills, 28 DMC colors, roughly 45 to 55 hours.
- Gothic Circus Diamond Painting Kit, The Winter Big Top ($55). A striped big top in black, ivory and red under a smoky winter sky, on a 55 x 55 cm canvas with 21 DMC colors. About 30 to 40 hours, and a strong pick for someone who wants a winter piece that is not a snowman.
Christmas-themed diamond painting kits
A 45 cm holiday canvas takes roughly 25 to 35 hours, so a kit opened on Christmas morning becomes a January project. If the recipient would love it on the wall this December, give it early: the snowman kits alone are five or six weeks of evenings for most people. Everything below is in our Christmas collection.
- Jolly Snowman with Silver Bell ($52). A teal-hatted snowman on a 45 x 60 cm (about 18 x 24 in) canvas, with 22 DMC colors that include a stack of near-whites so the drifts and falling flakes keep their shapes. Roughly 30 to 35 hours on round drills, a fine second or third project.
- Snowman in a Fair-Isle Hat ($52). The same size and price with 23 DMC colors, and a natural gift for a knitter, since a charted Fair-Isle pattern is worked on a grid much like a diamond painting. The banded hat is the busiest part of the canvas.
- Christmas Teddy Bear Diamond Painting Kit, All Lit Up for Christmas ($40). A bear under swinging loops of holiday lights in warm golds and deep reds, 45 x 45 cm (18 x 18 in) with 22 DMC colors. About 25 to 30 hours.
- Christmas Teddy Bear Diamond Painting Kit, Waiting for Christmas Morning ($40). A teddy keeps watch by the tree the night before Christmas. Same 45 x 45 cm size, 21 DMC colors and 25 to 30 hours.
Two more snowman designs and four more teddy bears are in the same collection at the same prices.
Studio-exclusive gift sets
These sets are only sold in our shop. Each pairs a kit with tools in a matching color, so it reads as one gift under the tree.
- Christmas Teddy Bear Kit + Red Tool Keeper Gift Bundle ($59.99). Choose any of the six Christmas teddy bears, a 45 x 45 cm round-drill kit with pen, tray, wax and tweezers, and it comes with The Tool Keeper case in True Red. Bought separately, the two come to $69.99. Both ship together in one box. Plan on about 25 to 30 hours for the canvas.
- Snowman Kit + Slate Blue Tool Keeper Gift Bundle ($81.99). Any of the four 45 x 60 cm snowman kits with The Tool Keeper in Slate Blue, a quieter grey-blue that suits a snowy canvas. It costs the same as buying the two separately, packed together in one box. The snowman canvases run about 30 hours or more.
- Atelier Palette Set ($84.99). Choose Golden Hour, Seaglass, Purple Butterfly or Crimson Blush and get a 45 x 45 cm full-drill, round-drill kit plus four tools 3D printed in our studio to match the palette: a Drill Pen Station, a 12-slot tilted drill packet tray, a 3-piece ruler set and a Round Drill Placement Guide. The listing puts the separate prices at $103.97.
In both bundles The Tool Keeper arrives empty: the kit's own pen, wax and tweezers are what go inside it. It holds tools, not the rolled canvas, and neither bundle includes a frame.
For kids: small, framed and finishable
Our kits for kids are small enough to finish. Each is a 15 x 15 cm (6 x 6 in) canvas already set in a white display frame, with a pen, tray and wax, and takes roughly three to five hours. The gems are small and loose, so plan on a table and a grown-up nearby. See our guide to diamond painting kits for kids for more picks.
- Unicorn Diamond Painting Kit for Kids ($12.99). The rainbow mane is laid out in bands, so each color runs long enough for a child to find a rhythm before the symbol changes.
- Narwhal Diamond Painting Kit for Kids ($12.99). Soft pastel ocean colors mean gentle steps between neighboring gems, so a slightly crooked placement reads as texture rather than a mistake.
- Rocket Ship Diamond Painting Kit for Kids ($12.99). Bold colors, stars and a string of planets. Strong contrast between neighboring gems makes the symbol chart easier for a first-timer to follow.
- Tractor Diamond Painting Kit for Kids ($12.99). One bright yellow tractor in a farm scene, drawn with big shapes for hands that are still learning to be precise.
For the crafter who has everything
These are the upgrades a busy painter rarely buys for themselves. Several are exclusive to Jeanne Argent, and our guide to the best diamond painting tools goes deeper.
- The Tool Keeper Drill Pen & Tool Case ($29.99). A padded zip case about 8 x 5 x 2.5 inches, in True Red or Slate Blue, with elastic loops that hold drill pens and tips upright and mesh pockets for wax, tweezers and spare tips. It is sold as an empty case, so pair it with a pen or two from the list below. It is now also part of the two Christmas gift bundles above.
- Drill Pen Station ($28). Printed in our studio in eight colors, it holds four resin drill pens tip-up plus a round wax well, so the waxed points never touch the table and the wax stays put. A wax refill comes with every colorway.
- Diamond Painting Storage Containers, 60 Jars ($14.99). Sixty clear screw-top jars, each 1 inch across and 2 inches tall, with 447 pre-printed DMC color labels and 64 blanks.
- Diamond Painting Tool Set, 3 Piece, Silk PLA ($9.99). A horizontal ruler, a right-angle ruler and a slide straightener, printed in our studio in ten silk colors. The slick silk finish glides over finished drills instead of catching on them.
- Round Drill Placement Guide, Silk PLA ($8.99). Six slots, each exactly three columns of 2.8 mm round drills wide, keep rows straight and keep a sleeve off the adhesive. For round-drill canvases.
Stocking stuffers and small gifts under $25
Small, useful and easy to wrap, on their own or beside a kit.
- Resin Diamond Painting Drill Pen ($9.99). Solid hand-poured swirled resin in six colors, so no two are quite alike, with two threaded metal tips: a single placer for detail and a multi-placer for long runs of one color. Wax is not included.
- Diamond Painting Tray Set with Lid and Tweezers ($9.99). The snap-on lid lets a painter walk away mid-row without tipping sorted drills back into the packet, and the easy-pour spout handles the cleanup. Colors are assorted.
- DIY Diamond Painting Keychain Kits ($9.99 per set). Sets hold four to eight charms depending on the design, including an eight-charm Christmas set, with the drill pen, tray, wax and clasp hardware included.
- Surprise Round Diamond Painting Drills (from $9.99 for 5 packs; 15 packs are $24.99). Sealed packs of round drills picked at random from the studio shelves, every one DMC numbered, so the surprise shade slots straight into an existing stash.
- Diamond Painting Wax Refills ($9.99). Twenty pieces of red drill-pen wax, two in each of ten small lidded boxes, so only one is open at a time. Sized for the wax well in the Drill Pen Station.
Paint-it-yourself gifts and studio decor
Our 3D printed pieces come off the printers in our studio in Alexander, North Carolina. Some arrive unpainted as a project of their own; others are finished decor. Browse the pieces printed in our studio, and for more ideas, our guide to 3D printed Christmas decor.
Paint it yourself
New this season are three unpainted Christmas figures in bone white PLA, cleaned of support marks and ready for a light primer and acrylic craft paint. They are decorative pieces, not toys, and the antlers, holly and pine needles are delicate, so keep them away from small children.
- Merry Christmas Reindeer ($32.99). About 4 inches tall, with a holly wreath at his neck and a rope in his teeth holding a sign that reads Merry Christmas in script.
- Cocoa Santa Gnome ($39.99). A gnome about 3.9 inches tall, settled beside a wrapped present with a mug of cocoa piled with whipped cream and marshmallows.
- Merry Christmas Elf Sign ($39.99). A shelf sitter about 4 inches tall and 4.4 inches wide: an elf stretched across a sign with big raised MERRY CHRISTMAS letters, framed by poinsettias, holly and pinecones.
- Holly Santa Votive Holder ($34.99). An unpainted matte white Santa, about 6.1 inches tall, lifting a holly-ringed plate over his head. The center ring fits a standard 1.5 inch LED votive. It is the blank only: no paint, brushes or LED votive in the box, and it is for flameless LED candles only. Each one is printed to order, so allow a little extra time.
- Snowflake Snowman Votive Holder ($34.99). The same unpainted format, about 5.9 inches tall, with a plate ringed in snowflakes, also printed to order. Gumdrop Gingerbread, Candy Cane Elf, Pine Forest Polar Bear and Dove & Star Angel designs are in the unpainted collection.
- Seasonal Cam Decor ($12.99). A pretend camera, not a working one, printed in plain white PLA and easy to pick out with a small brush. Choose the Elf Cam or Santa Cam for the kids who ask how Santa knows who has been good. Paint is not included.
Ready to display
- Winter Village Houses ($19.99 to $26.99 each, or $59.99 for the set of three). Hollow matte white buildings with cut-out windows, all 3.9 inches tall. Set them over a strand of battery-operated fairy lights or a battery LED tealight and the windows glow along the mantel. Lights are not included, and they are for battery LED lights only, never a real candle.
- Crescent Moon Votive Holder ($45). A slender crescent in six finishes, with a warm white LED votive and batteries included. Each one is printed to order, roughly a 10-hour print, so order this one sooner rather than later.
Getting it there by Christmas
Orders are packed in our studio in 2 to 5 business days and sent by USPS, usually arriving about 5 to 8 days later. Shipping within the US is $5.95 on orders under $20, $8.95 from $20 to $99.99, and free on orders of $100 or more.
Holiday mail can run slower, so to be safe, order by the first week of December for delivery before Christmas. Order earlier still for the pieces printed to order (the Crescent Moon and the paint-it-yourself votive holders) and for a holiday kit you hope to see finished and hanging in December. Two gifts in one order often clear the free-shipping mark: the Peacock panorama ($80) with a Drill Pen Station ($28) comes to $108.
If a gift misses the mark, unopened kits and unused accessories can come back within 14 days of delivery, and we pay the return postage. That window counts from delivery, not from Christmas morning. Opened kits can be returned only if the pattern is unreadable or the drills arrived spilled or damaged, and made-to-order pieces only if they arrive damaged or faulty.
