Merry Christmas Elf Sign — Unpainted 3D Printed Christmas Shelf Sitter, Paint It Yourself

Somebody was supposed to be wrapping presents. Instead, this elf is stretched out across the top of a wooden sign, chin propped on one hand, curly-toed shoes kicked up behind him, looking very pleased with himself. The sign below reads MERRY CHRISTMAS in big, bold raised letters, framed on both sides by poinsettias, holly berries, pinecones and pine boughs, with a little lantern tucked in the corner. The sign sits on two scrolled brackets on a slim flat base, so it stands steady on a shelf, mantel or windowsill.

He arrives blank on purpose, ready for your colors. Paint the classic red and green, or give it a farmhouse look with whitewashed wood and soft greens. The raised letters are easy to paint cleanly, and the bells on his hat and shoes are perfect for a dab of gold.

• Finish: unpainted, with support marks cleaned up and ready to prime
• Paint with: acrylic craft paint. A light coat of primer first helps the color stick.

Good to know

• Decorative piece, not a toy. The pine needles and leaf tips are delicate, so keep it away from small children.
• For indoor display. Keep it away from heat sources and out of a hot car, since PLA can soften in high heat.
• Each piece is printed layer by layer, so you may see faint layer lines. Primer and paint smooth them out.
