Gnarled Tree Candy Bowl

Most Halloween decorating is a quantity problem. One good object, set down where people put their drinks, does more work than a whole box of orange garland.

This one rises out of a spread of twisting roots into a deep hollowed trunk, with bare crooked branches reaching up and outward over whatever you put inside. The knots, splits and grain lines are sculpted into the print rather than painted on, so lamplight and candlelight catch in the grooves and drop real shadow down the sides. From across the room it reads as silhouette. Up close it reads as bark.

Pick the colorway for the mood you are after. Matte Charcoal Black is the stark storybook silhouette. Matte Earth Brown is warmer and more driftwood, and it sits better beside the pumpkins and dried stems already on the console.

Keep it away from direct heat, hot cars and open flame, and never put a real candle in it. Small variations in layer texture are normal from one print to the next.

After the thirty-first it keeps the coffee table, holding keys, rings, dice or drills between projects.
