Witch Hat Votive Holder

By the second week of October every light in the house is the wrong kind: overhead, flat, unforgiving to a mantel. A cut-out silhouette with a candle inside it fixes that in about four seconds.

The hat is tall and softly curving, leaning into its own bend like it came off a broom five minutes ago. Stars, crescent moons and lightning bolts are cut through the crown, and once the votive is seated they throw warm gold across the table. The scalloped brim carries its own ring of small moons and stars, so the light doesn't stop at the hat — it prints onto whatever the hat is standing on.

Matte black PLA is what makes that work. No shine anywhere on it, so the hat reads as flat silhouette and the cutouts become the only bright thing in the room. Unlit, it is a black sculptural hat that holds a bookshelf together in March.

For battery-operated LED votive candles only. Never use a real flame, a wick candle, or a warming light with this holder — direct heat will warp, melt, or ignite the plastic. Each hat is printed one at a time, so slight variation in texture and layer lines is how it is made rather than a fault. Not intended for direct food contact.

The candle and the batteries are already in the box, so the night it arrives is a night you get to use it.
