Amber light pools over a stack of books and a folded blanket while snow drifts past a frosted window, dusky blues and soft whites carrying the cold on the far side of the glass. Twenty-one DMC colors, 312 through 3865, do the work there. A lamp glow needs several close ambers to look like light rather than a yellow shape, and this palette has them, which is a generous count for a canvas this size.
