Layers are the whole trick with a parfait. A tall glass, and every band has to be visibly a different thing from the one beneath it or the eye slides straight past the lot.

Berries pile in jewel tones at the top of this diamond painting kit, passionfruit seeds sit gold and granular through the middle, and cream swirls between them in ivory ribbons that keep one fruit off the next. Deep purple carries most of the weight, with lavender arriving wherever light catches the outside of the glass. The gold of the seeds is the only warm color in the picture, and it is what stops all that purple from reading as a bruise.

Purple is where a thin palette fails first. Twenty-two DMC colors running from 154, a near-black plum, up to 3861 gives you an actual gradient instead of three purples and some optimism, and that gradient is what makes the berries look round.
